The speaker for the November 3rd First Monday is Casey Asprooth-Jackson, an artist and filmmaker from Rochester, New York. His visual production centers on alternative modes of political expression, and his research has included case studies in Palestine, Norway and Ireland. Casey’s documentary work has received support from the Norwegian Film Institute, Cannes Docs, and the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, and his image production has been exhibited internationally, including at Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center in Ramallah, Palestine, and documenta 15 in Kassel, Germany. He received a BA in Film Production from Bard College, and an MFA in Intermedia from the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art.

From 2012-2016, Casey taught in the Human Rights and Media Studies departments at Al-Quds Bard College in Abu Dis, West Bank. Since returning to Rochester, he has worked with Rochester Witness for Palestine, as well as the Rochester Committee to End Apartheid. Church members are welcome to gather at 6:00 pm for a 6:30 pm dinner. The Chefs-for-the-Night are Elizabeth Hammer and Lisa Lydum. The program is open to the public and will begin at 7:15.
