“Toward Jerusalem”

We begin with a Parade. Palms wave and sounds of praise welcome Jesus into Jerusalem. A small crowd of people yearning for freedom from oppression shout “Hosanna!” upon his humble entrance. But soon, trouble gathers around this peaceful man of God. Come and hear the powerful stories from people who were there….

The High Priest’s Sister: “Would you let him dismantle society to rebuild it in some new way?”
Barabbas: “The bullies run everything. It’s always been that way.”
The Carpenter’s Daughter: “The Romans like their crosses big and heavy.”
Judas Iscariot: “You hate me now. And rightly so. But there is much I can teach you.”

About the Artist: The Rev. Lauren Wright Pittman: Lauren (she/her) is an artist, graphic designer, and visual exegete. She studied Media Design at Middle Tennessee State University, worked as a wetlands advocate in Southern Louisiana, and went to seminary to piece together her passions for artistic expression, design, and Creation Care. Visual exploration offers her a holy space to ask questions, find footing in her voice, take risks, and make bold statements.
