Doug started playing upright bass in elementary school as a prank, but by high school he was still playing upright and bass guitar under the guidance of the jazz pianist George Giroux. Doug completed one year as a music education major at Crane School of Music, and after a full tour in the Navy and Marine Corps, he reentered Monroe Community College and joined the jazz ensemble under Chuck Morey, (George’s drummer!). This led to twenty years of performing with jazz, party and progressive rock bands in Rochester. Professional life as a Family Nurse Practitioner and work on our family run equestrian riding facility interrupted bass playing for a couple of decades. Now retired with my lovely wife of 30 years, music performance has found me again during the past 10 yrs. It is a privilege to be accompanying Scott, Don and the Mountain Rise choir under Jeanne's direction.
